Stony Plain is fortunate to have a number of committed black belts, past and present. All of the black belts in our club are nationally certified by the Shintani Wado-Kai Karate Federation.
We offer training in karate to all degrees of people, and to all skill levels. From Beginners to Advanced students and Black belts.
In our classes we focus on teaching a balance between competition style Karate and practical use Self-defences Karate.
Each session runs approximately 3 months in length. You will be training in the family class from 6:30-7:30. Parents or guardians of children, or anyone 13 years of age or older, are welcome (and strongly encouraged) to stay for the advanced classes after.
You are welcome to try 2 weeks before committing to registration. However, we ask that before you take part in class the registration form be filled out.
The white uniform we wear in karate is called a gi. Until you commit to classes regularly and purchase your gi (these can be purchased through the club), you should wear a comfortable pair of workout pants (no buttons or zippers) and a regular t-shirt (modesty is best).
Fees can be found in the registration form here. (This information is current for the 2021/2022 class year.)
